Vic: Police bans costing $1.5m a week in lost revenue, union

The Victorian police union says police work bans are costing about $1.5 million a week
in lost revenue.

The Police Association has raised the figure as it launches a television advertisement
supporting its pay claim.

It has called on the Victorian government to make the next move in resolving the dispute.

Police Association Victorian secretary PAUL MULLETT says there is no point recruiting
more officers if there is not a pay structure which makes it attractive for officers to
stay in the force.

He says the government is being fiscally irresponsible because training costs could
skyrocket if experienced police officers are lost.
